while I wait for the cable guy…

Outside my window…discovering all of the wildlife that I’m now surrounded by…peacocks, horses, blue jays, sheep, ducks, geese, deer and I’m fairly confident that last night I heard a donkey.

I am thinking…I’d like to take a trip pretty soon.

I am thankful for…all the perks of this new house…(besides the aforementioned laundry, storage shed and a bigger bedroom) a deep kitchen sink, coat closet, taller ceilings, a yard, built in shelves in my closet.  God certainly provided for my needs…and then for some of my wants.

From the kitchen…Chocolate Zucchini Bread.

I am wearing…my work clothes.

I am reading…Genesis.  Preparing for my Old Testament Bible study tomorrow.

I am hoping…for my life to calm the heck down.  I’d like to be still for awhile.

I am noticing that…it’s difficult to work full time and have a life/home at the same time.

I am creating…a new space for myself.

I am hearing…Phil Wickham.

I am pondering these words…“There are some things You learn best in calm, and some in storm.” – Willa Cather.  Straight off of last month’s Real Simple magazine.  Pretty profound.

I am praying…for my sister and brother-in-law as they start the process to adopt a child.

Around the house…cable today, internet & phone next week.  I see an end to unpacking what seems to have been hundreds of boxes.

One of my favorite things…pumpkins on my front porch.

A few plans for the rest of the week…baking, organizing, decorating.  All things I love.

  1. This all sounds great Ashley. Especially the part of a pumpkin on the front porch. I have been looking at them in the stores. It just doesn’t seem the same as taking a drive in the country. Finding a pumpkin patch from a local farmer and walking through the field to select the perfect one. This is something Dad and I enjoyed doing every year. These are some of the simple things I miss. I do feel blessed by my memories. Memories are certainly a gift. Happy fall! I love you, Mom
