I went to see Phil Wickham in concert last night. It was one of those concerts where I walked in liking the guy’s music (but not enough to have actually purchased a CD) and walked out his new #1 fan.
His new album is completely about Heaven. I feel like that says enough right there.
My favorite was actually one of his older songs but also includes a verse about Heaven.
I want to share the lyrics with you…
I see Your face in every sunrise
The colors of the morning are inside Your eyes
The world awakens in the light of the day
I look up to the sky and say
I see Your power in the moonlit night
Where planets are in motion and galaxies are bright
We are amazed in the light of the stars
It’s all proclaiming who you are
I see you there hanging on a tree
You bled and then you died and then you rose again for me
Now you are sitting on Your heavenly throne
Soon we will be coming home
When we arrive at eternity’s shore
Where death is just a memory and tears are no more
We’ll enter in as the wedding bells ring
Your bride will come together and we’ll sing
I see Your face, I see Your face, I see Your face
You’re beautiful, You’re beautiful, You’re beautiful
He added an interlude of the hymn “Soon and Very Soon” (we are going to see the King)
Since my Dad died, Heaven has become so much more real. I get completely overwhelmed with emotion when I think about the fact that my dad is there! He is right now worshipping before the throne of Jesus. I really want to live in light of this truth. The truth that this world is not my home, and that I need to spend the rest of my time on earth preparing for eternity.
Jesus, come quickly!
